DMC Introduces Education Coordinator Lauren Lockhart

The DMC is happy to reintroduce Lauren Lockhart in her new role! Formerly the DMC’s 2022-2023 Civic Fellow, Lauren will now serve as Education Coordinator at the DMC, where she will work with the Executive Director to administer and manage DMC signature programming reaching K-12 students & teachers, conduct research relevant to DMC educational programming, author reports & blogs on DMC educational programming, develop educational resources and issue guides suitable for the K-12 classroom, and any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Lauren grew up in Bethlehem, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration with a minor in Peace, Justice, and Ecology. During her time at UAB, she had the opportunity to expand her education and take classes in the Master of Public Administration department, as well as exploring topics related to the state of Alabama through the Global & Community Leadership Honors College, combining her research background with a passion for the nonprofit sector. Working with the Mathews Center has encouraged her passion for education and allows her to continue this desire to assist others while learning skills in a real-world environment that she can use in her future as Education Coordinator.

Please join the DMC staff and Board of Directors in welcoming Lauren in her new role! If you’d like to get in touch with Lauren, you can email her at llockhart@mathewscenter.org.
