Welcoming 2025 Summer Intern Grace McDermitt!

The Mathews Center is happy to welcome back intern Grace McDermitt for the 2025 summer season! Grace is returning to the DMC after being an intern last summer and is excited to engage with communities around the state.

As a rising senior at the University of Montevallo majoring in Social Work and Political Science, the Mathews Center serves as an organization that embodies what Grace sees as a necessary overlap between the two areas of study by emphasizing the efficacy of communities and importance of grassroots efforts in the improvement of daily life. Ultimately, she hopes to take the lessons she has learned forward into her professional and personal life and is thankful for the guidance and opportunities she has had at the Mathews Center.
