The DMC is proud to launch a new deliberative forum series in partnership with the Community Foundation of South Alabama.

Launching this week, the forum series will be focused on the future of southwest Alabama’s young people, and will include forums in Washington, Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, and Monroe counties.

“Charting Our Course” aims to identify issues affecting the achievement and life outcomes of local youth. During the forum series, participants will have the opportunity to identify the economic, social, and educational factors that affect their communities, as well as the unique strengths they possess to confront the challenges they face.

Forums are convened by local members of the community in public spaces across the region, and moderated by staff of the DMC. The Community Foundation of South Alabama and the DMC greatly anticipate working with Alabamians to deliberate through the opportunities provided to local youth, as well as the challenges they still face, so that participants can actively and productively engage in creating workable solutions in their communities.
