  4. Alabamians Who Make a Difference: Montevallo Mural Camp

    In this segment of Alabamians Who Make a Difference, we learn about a unique mural camp in Montevallo, AL. Coordinated by University of Montevallo art professor Collin Williams, the University of Montevallo’s Office of Service Learning, and Montevallo Mayor Hollie Cost, the camp encourages students of all ages to explore the idea of “community art” through painting a nature-themed mural. The project received funding from CAWACO (cawaco.org), and the completed piece can be found in downtown Montevallo.

    In this episode of Alabamians Who Make a Difference (AWMAD), DMC staff visit Bethel Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama to hear from Pastor Thomas Wilder and Martha Bouyer, Executive Director of the Historic Bethel Baptist Church Community Restoration Fund. Throughout this brief documentary, Pastor Wilder and Ms. Bouyer highlight the remarkable role Bethel Baptist played in the Civil Rights Movement and explore the future of their historic church.
